Summer is in full swing, and August is packed with great ways to get out and enjoy everything Aurora has to offer. From free outdoor concerts and movies to farmers' markets, Ribfest and family-friendly events, there's something happening nearly every week. Here are some of the best community events happening throughout August.


Drift Zone Grand Opening

Aurora's newest family entertainment destination officially opens its doors on August 1st. Drift Zone features indoor go-karts, arcade games, an indoor playground, party rooms, and food and refreshments, making it a fun outing for families, friends, and groups of all ages

WHEN: Opens Saturday, August 1, 2026
Daily: 10am — 9pm, walk-in anytime or reserve online

Machell's Alley ‘Alley Jam’

Spend your Saturday afternoon enjoying free live music in the heart of Downtown Aurora. Each week features a different local performer, making it the perfect opportunity to stroll through downtown, grab lunch or coffee, and enjoy live entertainment in a relaxed outdoor setting.

WHEN: Saturdays in August, 12– 2 pm

WHERE: Machell's Alley, 15217 Yonge Street Downtown Aurora


Summer Concerts in the Park

One of Aurora's most popular summer traditions returns with free outdoor concerts featuring tribute bands and live performances. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, enjoy food and licensed beverages available for purchase, and spend an evening listening to great music under the stars.

WHEN: Wednesdays in August 7 – 9 pm

WHERE: Aurora Town Park, 49 Wells Street


Double Header Movie Nights

Enjoy a free double-feature movie night at Aurora Town Park. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, settle in under the stars, and enjoy family favourites and comedy classics. Free popcorn is available while supplies last.

WHEN: Thursday August 20 & 27 - activities start at 6pm, first movie at 7pm, second movie at 9pm

WHERE: Aurora Town Park, 49 Wells Street


Farmers' Market & Corn Roast

Shop fresh local produce, baked goods, handcrafted products, and artisan creations while supporting local vendors. The market is a favourite weekend tradition for many Aurora residents and includes the annual Community Corn Roast on August 15.

WHEN: Saturdays 8am – 1pm

WHERE: Aurora Town Park, 49 Wells Street


Sip & Sniff at PupHub

Bring your four-legged friend for an afternoon of treats, refreshments, and socializing with fellow dog lovers. This free community event includes complimentary pup cups and is a great way for both dogs and their owners to make new friends.

WHEN: Saturday, August 22, 2026, 11am – 5pm

WHERE: PupHub, 226 Edward Street, Unit 1A, Aurora


Ribfest

One of Aurora's biggest summer festivals returns with award-winning BBQ, live entertainment, a children's activity zone, a beer garden, and plenty of delicious food vendors. It's a weekend tradition that attracts thousands of visitors each year.

WHEN: August 28–30, 2026:
Friday: 4 – 11pm
Saturday: 11am – 11pm
Sunday: 11am – 8pm

Stay Cool This August

Looking for a simple way to cool off? Aurora's splash pads are open daily throughout August and provide a free way for children to beat the heat while enjoying the outdoors.

WHEN: Daily 9am – 9pm (weather permitting)

WHERE: 6 park locations throughout Aurora, including: Town Park, Ada Johnson Park, Trent Park, Stewart Burnett Park, Edward Coltham Park, and Aurora Town Square
